Governor Ross Mansion
The Ross Mansion and Plantation in Seaford is a true gem, not only of the Nanticoke Heritage Byway but also of southern Delaware in general. William Henry Harrison Ross was the 29th governor of Delaware and served in that role from 1851 to 1855. Later becoming a southern sympathizer during the United States Civil War, he had a bounty placed on his head by President Abraham Lincoln and fled to England during the fighting. A trip to the historic Ross Mansion is a step back in time to the mid 1850s.
